Dear Folks,

Got off guard at 6 am this morning. It rained a little this morning but by six it was clear. I came back to the hooch and slept till 9:30 am.

Then I took my blanket, Coppertone, radio and book and went over and laid on top of the conex for a while to catch some of that early morning sunshine.

After it got too hot to lay there I came back and put on a pair of dungaree bells and a tee shirt and went to lunch. I forget what I had. Must not have been too spectacular if I can't remember.

The electricity has been off from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm today, so it's been hot around here without the fans.

I came back from lunch and laid down for a while. Couldn't really sleep because it was so hot. And besides that they brought a truck load of hooch maids in today for a party. Since our room is one of the few with a table they like to congregate in here. Their chatter makes sleep impossible.

I got up about 1 pm and took a jog out to the gate. Came back and took a shower and rested till supper.

Roast Beef, mashed potatoes and gravy for supper at the mess hall.

And that's about it for today. When the lights came on I cleaned the place up. It's always a mess after a Sunday.

Got 2 letters and some magazines in the mail today. I taped Jeanies poster on the wall over my bed -- comments, "That must be the one who twirls her hair" One of these days I'll get to work on another tape for you.

Payday tomorrow. I didn't ever get around to mailing any money home this month. I'll be sure to send it all home as soon as I get the chance.

Duff hurt his toe playing volley ball today so I may end up taking his guard tomorrow morning.

So much for now.

Rick
